Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., a leading mobile phone provider, today announced the market expansion of the Omnia II (model name: I8000), an all-in-one Smartphone based on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.

Launched on July 15 in Singapore, where its predecessor Omnia was unveiled last year, the Samsung Omnia II is in great demand by eagerly awaiting fans. The Samsung Omnia II began selling in other Asian countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, and Vietnam in July, and will be launched in over twenty further countries during August, including The Netherlands, China, Australia, Turkey and The United Arab Emirates.

Armed with the latest technology including an ultra fast 800MHz application processor, crystal-clear WVGA AMOLED display and more, the Omnia II enhances Samsung’s reputation in the growing Smartphone market.

“Samsung has made a great effort to reinforce its leadership in the Smartphone market over the past several years and the success of Omnia II is proof of our continuous efforts,” said Younghee Lee, Vice President of Marketing, Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics. “I strongly believe that Omnia II satisfies the needs of consumers who want it all – efficiency at work, communications with their loved ones, fun multimedia experiences and style for any occasion.”

“The powerful multimedia capabilities in the Samsung Omnia II, combined with the familiar, easy-to-use Windows Mobile software, give customers a single, versatile phone for work, home or play,” said Stephanie Ferguson, general manager of product management, Microsoft Corp.

Samsung Omnia II: All-in-one Redefined

The Omnia II is designed for the Smartphone user who demands an enhanced and convenient multimedia experience featuring Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.

Featuring the world’s largest AMOLED display at 3.7 inches and with crystal-clear WVGA resolution, the Omnia II offers unbeatable screen clarity that can be viewed easily even in daylight.

Complete with larger icons and a simpler structure, the Omnia II’s innovative TouchWiz 2.0 User Interface ensures convenient, high-speed multi-tasking.

The rich multimedia functions, including its DVD-like (480p) video recording/playback, A-GPS with navigation (3-D Maps), smooth internet browsing and interactive 3-D games, offer users further functionality and enjoyment.

While on the move, users can upload and download content quickly thanks to the Omnia II’s HSUPA 5.76Mbps, HSDPA 7.2Mbps and Wi-Fi capabilities. Generous memory up to 48GB allows users to store more of their favorite content for on-the-go access.

The Omnia II will be updatable to Windows Mobile® 6.5 upon the release of the new OS update. Please contact your mobile operator and/or local Samsung office for details.
