Berlin, Germany, August 29, 2008 – Samsung’s new Series 8 Full HD LCD TVs bring design and superior media solutions to new heights.

For the Series 8 TVs (40, 46, and 52 inches), Samsung incorporates its stunning new crystal design that has been so well received by consumers in 2008. The key upgrade is a startling 50% reduction in thickness, producing a slim and narrow bezel measuring just 44.4mm.

Together with a new and distinctive inlaid red pattern, the result is an artful frame with an optimal blend of minimalism, elegance and craftsmanship that speaks of the highest technological elements inside.

Yoon Boo-keun, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Division,
expressed confidence that Series 8 TVs will do well in the market.

“The new series 8 TVs offer an even more sophisticated crystal design with an inlaid pattern as well as genuine stylishness, made possible by a slim design and bezel,” Mr. Yoon said.

The new TVs also respond to Samsungs believe in environmental responsibility. The development of the new crystal design entailed a new dual injection molding process that combines the frame production and coloring processes into one step. The result is not only a refined new material that holds the essence of crystal, but also a significant reduction of stress on the environment.

Series 8 TVs usher in a new era of connectiveness with technology designed to enrich consumer lifestyles and experiences.advanced media solution features that go beyond what is currently available in the marketplace position Series 8 right at the heart of home entertainment.

Media solution encapsulates four key elements: InfoLive, WISELINK Pro, DLNA, and Content Library. The innovative InfoLive feature provides constant connection with a special real-time RSS viewer for news, weather and stock information that rests tastefully overtop the current channel or input signal.

And WISELINK Pro allows users to utilize a fast USB 2.0 connection to quickly and conveniently browse and view their own content, such as pictures (jpeg), video (mpeg), and music (mp3).

Samsung also made sure the TVs are DLNA-enabled so that, with special software installed on their home PC, users can enjoy simultaneous viewing of downloaded or streamed content on multiple TVs throughout the house.

Finally, the built-in Content Library includes a range of family entertainment with the unit’s flash memory, such as an art gallery and programming for games, fitness and childrens entertainment.

Series 8 TVs maintain the highest standards for picture quality that consumers have come to expect from the brand. Samsung’s top-line Full HD 100Hz Motion Plus technology has been installed to minimize motion blur on fast moving scenes, while the Ultra Clear Panel enhances that top-line quality further with truer blacks and tremendous contrast ratios.

The new simplified user interface is even easier to use than before and is ideal for accessing and managing content from external memory, particularly with the unit’s newly designed wheel key remote control that allows users to quickly jog through the Smart Content Manager or access frequently watched channels. Series 8 TVs also ship with a second, pebble-shaped remote that not only adds a touch of convenience but also style and décor to the room.

An extra HDMI hookup (1 side, 3 rear) has been added, enabling connection to all high definition peripheral devices, such as game consoles, home theater systems, and Blu-ray disc players, with access to those connections now made even easier by the slimmed down models.
